There are 500 million one-acre farmers around the world. The technology that Futurepump is developing is designed to tap into the needs of this huge global market. Irrigation pump is both robust and portable. It offers smallholder farmers a cheaper, cleaner and more sustainable alternative to costly and polluting petrol or diesel pumps. Futurepump is currently focusing its operations in Kenya and is working in partnership with iDE.

Ofit arm of the design and innovation company IDEO. It applies the concepts of human-centred design to poverty alleviation. Juhudi Kilimo first worked with IDEO. org in 2012, on a project that used rapid prototyping to find out how technical information could best be shared with rural smallholder farmers. Building on the initial human-centred design project, we have developed a library of training videos.
